365: A YEAR IN COLOUR

This year, I am sharing a year-long painting project: 365 works, one for each day of the year.

Each painting is anchored to a specific calendar date and shaped by the structure of a dated Sudoku puzzle. Its logic is translated into colour, pattern, and variation.

This project builds on my MA research into series and variation and years of studio practice. It explores what happens when a system guides a year-long series of paintings.

Over the year, the works accumulate into a visual calendar of colour.

WHERE SYSTEMS MEET PLAY

I’m Victoria Mardon, an award-winning British abstract artist and designer who combines systematic processes with playful experimentation.

My work sits where abstraction meets pattern, exploring repetition, variation, and my passion for colour. My practice is rooted in joy, curiosity, and the pleasure of making.
